Capture a Lifetime of Memories in Africa

Chem Chem Safari Lodge, Tanzania, Accommodation Lounge Area.

Adams & Butler, a member of the prestigious Virtuoso travel network, is an upscale private travel designer, offering clients unique and authentic, tailormade travel and cultural experiences in Africa and worldwide.

Established in 2005, the company is based in Ireland and caters to clients, both Irish and international, seeking affordable luxury. Owner Siobhan Byrne has worked in the travel industry since 1989 and is both a Condé Nast Travel Specialist and a Travel + Leisure A-List Travel Advisor 2023 for Africa. She also won the Best Travel Professional at the Irish Travel Trade Awards.

Byrne comments: “At Adams & Butler, we design itineraries for our clients that others simply cannot – whether around a theme, a private experience or meeting people who are not normally accessible to the public. We do things that are unique, taking footfall away from over-visited sites to lesser-known gems, helping smaller local communities and businesses to thrive. Our mission is to offer the ultimate travel experience based on our values of integrity, trust, creativity and value for money, but our clients engaging with real people is paramount for us.”

Her true passion, however, is Africa, having lived with the Samburu tribe in the bush, and in 2009 Byrne launched a new company, Adams & Butler Africa. With a specific focus on countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Rwanda, Byrne and her team design tailor-made safaris, featuring intimate owner-managed camps and lodges, and authentic cultural and tribal experiences.

Byrne continues: “People always think the main attraction on an African safari will be the wildlife, but clients tell me time and again that it is the warmth and friendliness of the local people that make the trip. They are the moments they remember fondly afterwards – the animals, although tremendous, are usually secondary.”

Photographic Safari for Non-Photographers – September 2024

Working with seasoned professional photographer and frequent collaborator Marc Richardson, Byrne has decided to host a photographic safari in Tanzania. During one of Richardson’s trips to Africa with Adams & Butler, he realised that so many clients were returning home from their trip frustrated that they never got to take that perfect shot. “This photographic safari brings the best of both worlds,” continues Byrne. “With a small group of only six people, every client will have one-to-one tuition and advice with Marc. This is a unique opportunity to capture the African wildlife experience while taking in the breath-taking landscapes.”

The safari starts at Legendary Lodge, in Arusha. From there you will travel to Chem Chem Lodge, close to the Tarangire National Park, where you will have an opportunity to see herds of elephants and tree-climbing lions. The next base, a quick flight away, will be at Songa Tented Camp, to watch the spectacular wildebeest migration in the nearby Mara River crossings. And finally to Mwiba, where you will get to meet the pastoralist Datoga Tribe and the diminishing Hadzabe Tribe, who are hunter gatherers who live and sustain themselves in the forest.

These stunning properties in Tanzania have been handpicked and are sure to bring a wealth of varied photographic opportunities for budding photographers.

The safari will take place between Thursday, 5 September  to Sunday, 15 September 2024, with an optional add on to the Ngorongoro Crater.
